Going to the Venice Beach Boardwalk is like opening a time capsule and re-living the sights, smells, colors, and people that existed once upon a time long ago. In the case of the Venice Beach Boardwalk, it takes you back to the Haight Ashbury District of the 1960′s, and the Flower Power, Love/Peace generation that existed at that time. Unlike it’s neighbor, Santa Monica Beach, it is not Upscale or Aloof at all, but rather, kick back, relaxed, very arts and crafts oriented, and distinctly down scale and much more affordable. The entire boardwalk stretches over a mile in length, starting with a row of multiple story beach houses, facing the beach, and picking up with a business district that runs the entire span of the Boardwalk. The business are packed in, side by side, with no consideration at all for any type of planned theme or color scheme, looking like a bowl of brightly colored M & M’s, mixed with Ju-Ju Beads and gummy monsters. There you will find shop after shop of Medical Marijuana distributors touting the health benefits and high quality of their Herbal Wares. Indeed some even have full time doctors on staff that will issue you a medical marijuana certificate, and a FREE SAMPLE on the spot ! Gone are the days when a visit to the doctor would fetch you a free candy sucker on a stick ! Arts and crafts stores abound all over, along with many restaurants, eateries, and confections stands of evcry type, description and budget. T-shirt shops, bathing wear shops …
