This video is of mostly raw footage I shot in Toronto at Dundas Square on 20 April 2010. I too ran like everyone else but when I saw that some media cameramen were shooting, I decided to go back and shoot myself some video. With some additional video footage I edited this news segment of the event chronologically. Here is how some local TV stations described the event: Police Recover Gun During Yonge-Dundas Square Weed Rally: A pro-marijuana rally is the last place most ‘smokers’ want to see the police, but that rapidly changed on Tuesday after someone pulled out a gun during a 4:20 demonstration at Yonge-Dundas Square. A male suspect pulled out the weapon, causing a wave of panic as the crowd tried to disperse. Another man (pictured below) was cut in the head when he was apparently pistol whipped by the suspect. “I just seen him and he pulled out a gun and tried to shoot, so I just jumped on him,” the bleeding man told CityNews before going to the hospital. “Innocent people could have got shot,” his friend noted. It’s not yet clear what sparked the confrontation at the otherwise peaceful rally, but police have confirmed that no shots were fired. Several people proceeded to pin the gunman down, and he was subsequently assaulted, taking a boot in the head during the commotion. Police moved in on the scene and the suspect was taken away in a cruiser. Donovan Wynn, with four court orders not to have firearms, remains in custody. He’s facing 13 charges, including carrying a …

The highlights of the CALM raid on March 31st 2010. Watch from all perspectives as the Toronto Police Service force their way into Toronto’s oldest and largest medical cannabis club. Some points of interest: Police, weapons drawn, rushing past a handicapped scooter to force their entry. Excessive force against two CALM members and one volunteer (causing whiplash and a concussion). Several patients and two mobility challenged ATP card holders left outside without access to medicine. Edit: The date on the video should say March 31st and not May.

It started off all peaceful and mellow but it wasn’t long before someone started screaming RUN, MOTHERFUCKER’S GOT A GUN, and people were running in a panic. WTF!!! This being a Toronto pot protest, nobody was going to leave until they got their buzz on, so everyone came back and started to pass the bongs around. Soon everyone was back in the spirit of things, getting high and mellowing out. There was so much pot smoke in the air, even the cops were smiling and enjoying their buzz from the fumes. And the bad guy with the gun? He was subdued by the cops, or the pot fumes or something, I forget. lol Saturday, May the 1st, is the big pot party in Toronto. It’s the Toronto Global Marijuana March at Queen’s Park. Oh, legalize the damned thing already!
