We follow Jeff as he opens Brittons 5th cannabis cafe in rhyl, Wales. Watch as Jeff struggles against the authorities & fights for the right to use cannabis. As many across this nation debate the pros and cons of Arizona’s new immigration law, I believe we need to unite and send a clear message that we will no longer tolerate the federal government’s failure to protect our borders. In the absence of federal legislation addressing the influx of illegal immigrants in our country, states, including Indiana, are being forced to take matters into their own hands. Many are searching for ways to combat the growing financial and social problems associated with illegal immigration. Costs borne by taxpayers include healthcare, education and incarceration just to name a few. Here recently in Hamilton County, state and local officials arrested two illegal immigrants following a three-month narcotics investigation on a southwest Carmel residence a case law enforcement officials say may have cost taxpayers between 00 and 00. The two illegal immigrants were among five people arrested for trying to sell cocaine and marijuana. These arrests highlight the time and money illegal immigration costs taxpayers. It’s a shame especially when resources are scarce that hard-working Hoosiers are footing the bill for people who have no respect for the rule of law. Incidents like these offer further evidence that our federal government can no longer afford to ignore the problems associated with illegal immigration. It’s not just an issue of the border states. Perugia, Italy – A court in Italy has found an American woman, along with her Italian ex-boyfriend, guilty of murdering her British housemate, in a case that has fascinated the Western media. Amanda Knox was sentenced to 26 years on Saturday for the murder and sexual assault of Meredith Kercher, her British housemate, following an 11-month trial in the Italian university town of Perugia. Raffaele Sollecito, Knox’s ex-boyfriend, received a 25-year sentence for his part in the November 2007 killing. Lawyers for Knox and Sollecito said they would appeal the verdict. The murder of 21-year-old Kercher sparked lurid headlines around the world, notably in Britain, fed by rampant rumours as well as repeated leaks to the press during the investigation. Kercher’s body was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit in the bedroom of the house she shared with Knox while the two were studying at Perugia’s prestigious University for Foreigners. Prosecutors accused Knox of persuading Sollecito and Rudy Guede, an Ivory Coast citizen, to take part in an extreme sex game involving Kercher, which turned violent and led to Kercher’s death. She had a right to have expected them gone and could have truthfully withheld the facts as being irrelevant when questioned on a form. The one Judge who has come out and publicly demanded her resignation, has done so proclaiming he knows what the majority of Canadians find acceptable in the way of sexual norms and that this is beyond that. Yeah right! It is my contention that Irwin Cotler, who oversaw the vetting and made her a Judge, should have asked the proper questions of her former employers as anyone hiring for MacDonalds would have done. The 27-year-old Baton Rouge rapper is accused in the Oct. 21 shooting death of Terry Boyd. He is already in prison for a probation violation. District Attorney Hillar Moore said if Hatch is convicted of first-degree murder the death penalty is not out of the question. Hatch was also indicted on drug charges Thursday. He faces three counts of possession with intent to distribute codeine, ecstacy and marijuana. He was also indicted on three counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute narcotics and two counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution. Michael Louding, 17, and Adrian Pittman, 36, were also indicted for first-degree murder in Boyd’s death. According to detectives, the 35-year-old was shot to death while inside his home on Vermillion Drive in Baton Rouge. They said the shots were fired from the outside through a window. Another man, Reginald Youngblood, 32, was arrested and indicted in connection with a double murder and two other shootings in which the victims survived. Charles Matthews and Darryl Milton were gunned down on April 1 while sitting in a car on Monte Sano Avenue in Baton Rouge. BRAINTREE — John C. James was sitting on the couch in his girlfriend’s Braintree Village apartment shortly before 8 pm Friday. A delivery man was on his way with Chinese food, and a movie featuring Rowan Atkinson was on the TV. Suddenly, there was a commotion in the parking lot outside the building: a police officer had stopped a vehicle and was using the cruiser’s loudspeaker to order the driver to show his hands. But what James didn’t know was that the traffic stop was actually a decoy designed to divert his attention away from the team of drug detectives entering the building from a rear entrance and lining up outside his door. Police had quietly crept up the stairs, the only noise coming from a battering ram clanging against the metal stairwell. The crew paused briefly outside the apartment, standing next to a pink baby stroller, before bursting in with guns drawn. They ordered James face-down on the carpet. One of the two small children in the apartment at the time began to wail, and James’ girlfriend pleaded with police to tell her what was happening. The Chinese food showed up as James was being led out of the building in handcuffs. The bust was another parry in the ongoing battle by local police departments to crack down on drugs in their suburban neighborhoods. November 23rd 2007- Channel 10 news Former world champion kayaker Nathan Baggaley and his younger brother will spend Christmas behind bars after facing court on charges of supplying and manufacturing drugs. Baggaley, 31, and his 25-year-old brother Dru appeared in the Casino Local Court yesterday after being arrested on the NSW north coast on Wednesday. They did not apply for bail and it was formally refused by magistrate Annette Sinclair, despite their parents offering 0000 surety. The brothers will be remanded in custody for at least three months, with the case adjourned to the Lismore Local Court on February 19. Nathan Baggaley was meant to be flying to Dubai today to compete in an international open water paddling event. The Olympic silver medallist was arrested at a Byron Bay apartment block, while his brother Dru was arrested at an oyster lease at Brunswick Heads. The arrests were part of a four-month joint operation between Queensland and NSW police called Strike Force Alawa, which focused on the alleged cross-border supply of ecstasy. Police have alleged that since July, they have seized 28500 tablets and 1kg of powder with a combined potential street value of .5 million.
